I'm Back!

  This is my first blog entry post partum.  Since this blog is NOT about motherhood or babies I will forewarn you that this post is kinda about both.  This is what it looks like these days when I get a second or two to sit down in my studio:

When I took this photo I intended the focus to be how I had a baby strapped onto me.  After looking at it I only see what a huge mess my work space is.  It's one of those messes that are in complete order to me and only me.

  And here is a picture of the little man we made. He is a tough guy. And his  name is Simon Rocky Yost.  My 3 1/2 year old kid Lulu chose his middle name. It suits him so well that we all just call him Rocky.

    I have bats on my mind. Mostly because I found these abalone bat charms when I was out buying my findings this week that I am in love with. Really they are nothing special but they just really stole my heart. Maybe it is because the bat is giving a perfect half smile. Or, because it is primitively carved. Maybe I don't care why I just love my new little bat. I think I am going to rig him up to a 14K yellow chain with some stars. I'll post the necklace when I am finished.

Inside My Studio

Here's another wall of my studio.  In the close up picture you can see my heart shaped, chalk board, memo area.  You can also see more of my doll collection scattered about.  The large altered doll above the shelves was made by the amazing illustrator, Katherine Streeter. She is also a friend of mine, and we traded this doll of hers for some jewelry of mine several years ago.

I spent some time over the fourth making these one of a kind B.F.F. (best friends forever) bracelets for my daughter and myself.  They took forever to make and I relished every last minute. This is mostly because I rarely have time to lose myself in creating new things these days.  I am either taking care of my kid or doing production work for Anomaly Jewelry.  While I enjoy both of those things they are totally different tasks than making something new.  Here's a couple more shots of the bracelets.

Being my daughter has some perks when it comes to accessories. My daughter, Lulu had a birthday party to go to and I decided she needed a necklace and headband to complete the outfit. So the morning of the party I made her the following:

 This is my desk. This is how it looks 80% of the time. And, I know where every last jump ring placed.  In fact, I didn't realize the extent of the chaos until I checked out the photos shown here.  Perhaps subconsciously I continued the mess in the decorations above the table.  I guess this is one of those bless this mess situations.

Anomaly Loves

Carrie M. Becker's "Barbie Trashes Her Dreamhouse" blows my mind in the best way imaginable. It is a miniature world made from re-purposed 1/6th scal doll accessories with other handmade items. Often when I make my jewelry I feel as though I am making miniature people, animals, and objects for a wonderful small world that I wish existed in large format.  But I have a love of all things small as does Carrie it seems.
